AL Series Alnico Holding Magnets

AL Series Alnico Holding Magnets
Application: Cylindrical Alnico Magnet Assemblies are designed for use in many of the same applications as insulated Ceramic Magnets. Their design features a precision ground flat with a smooth magnetic contact surface, making them extremely effective in working against a shear factor and where liquids or caustic solutions are involved. Because of their high resistance to heat, they are ideally suited for use in temperatures ranging from 180° F to 800° F. Unlike the insulated Ceramic Assemblies, these magnets must be insulated on their outside diameter with a non-ferrous sleeve, if they are to be press mounted into steel fixtures, dies or molds.
Construction: Powerful Alnico magnet material is pressed into a mild steel cup assembly to provide a very hard center pole magnetic surface. A brass sleeve separates the Alnico magnet from the steel cup outer pole surface. This versatile magnet comes with a tapped hole in back for mounting. Special tap sizes and nonferrous insulating O.D. sleeves are available upon request.

2-Pole Cylindrical Insulated Magnet Assemblies

2-Pole Cylindrical Insulated Magnet Assemblies
Application: By eliminating costly clamps and fixtures, Two-Pole Cylindrical Insulated Magnet Assemblies (2P Series) provide an economical solution to many material handling applications involving ferrous products. These magnets can improve productivity in applications that include part feeding, automatic part transfers, welding and holding parts in metal forming operations. All MPI Cylindrical Insulated Magnet Assemblies are supplied standard with precision-ground flat, extended mild steel poles, which can be machined to custom fit irregular shapes. These magnets are not affected by vibration or temperatures up to 180° F and are fully insulated for direct mounting to steel surfaces.
Construction: Powerful Ceramic Permanent Magnet material produces a high concentration of magnet energy in the mild steel poles contact surfaces. A nonferrous aluminum cup, potted with high-impact epoxy, provides both physical durability and insulation against demagnetization. Actual loss of 1/2 of 1% over 100 years can be expected, under normal conditions.
Caution: Care must be used not to drill, tap or change the magnet assemblies without risk of reducing the holding values as shown in the following chart.
