Wintriss Brake Monitor

Brake Monitors are essential for accurate monitoring of press stopping performance. OSHA 1910.217 and ANSI B11.1 standards require brake monitors for hands in die operations when a two hand control, presence sensing device, or type B sliding barrier device is used as the point of operation guarding device.

Our brake monitors are resolver based and monitor stopping performance (stop time in milliseconds) each time the press stops at the top of the stroke. The device generates a brake warning when stop times increase halfway to the brake alarm point. Once the brake stop time alarm limit is reached the brake monitor generates a press stop command until the braking performance problem is resolved.

A brake monitor is not a substitute for a control reliable clutch/brake control. The standalone Wintriss brake monitor is intended for presses with otherwise OSHA/ANSI compliant control systems that are equipped with a simple top stop overrun system where stop time measurement is needed. Controls built and/or installed prior to 1974 are likely to be non-compliant with current standards.
