Photoelectric die protection sensors are specialized devices used in industrial stamping and forming operations to prevent damage to tooling and machinery. These sensors are essential for enhancing safety, improving production efficiency, and extending the lifespan of dies and presses.

Photoelectric sensors operate by emitting a beam of light—often infrared or laser—and detecting interruptions caused by foreign objects, misfeeds, or material misalignment within the die area. If the sensor's beam of light is broken unexpectedly, the sensor triggers a stop signal to halt the press, preventing costly damage and downtime.

Common detection modes include through-beam, retroreflective, and diffuse sensing, with each mode suited to different environmental and material conditions.

Production Resources is a proud distributor of HTM Sensors. HTM Sensors offers a large selection of Photoelectric Sensors. Detection modes include through-beam, retroreflective, polarized reflective, diffuse, fiber optic, clear object detection, color sensing, contrast detection and background suppression as well as diffuse and retroreflective lasers. Their new H60 models have a laser diffuse or laser retroreflective type for more accuracy.
