Overview
The Pascal Slide Lock (SLA) is an electric slide-fall protection system for stamping presses. It locks the press slide in any position between top and bottom dead center at the flick of a switch, taking seconds instead of the minutes it takes to place die blocks.
Key Features
- Locks at any position
- Holds the slide anywhere between top dead center and bottom dead center.
- Switch operated
- The operator engages the lock with a switch, with no heavy blocks to lift into the die area.
- Built for stamping presses
- Pascal designed the system specifically for stamping machines and dies.
- Protects people and dies
- Eliminates the risk of injury or die damage from an unexpected slide fall during maintenance.
Product Line / Models
Three sizes, rated by the ram and upper die weight they hold:
- SLA32 – 314 kN, holds a 35 US ton ram and upper die.
- SLA50 – 490 kN, holds a 55 US ton ram and upper die.
- SLA80 – 784 kN, holds an 88 US ton ram and upper die.
Applications & Benefits
- Safer maintenance: The slide is mechanically held while people work in the die area.
- Faster setups: Locking takes a few seconds compared with several minutes to place safety blocks.
- Better ergonomics: No lifting heavy blocks onto a high bolster.
- Any stroke position: Useful when work has to be done with the slide partway down.
How to Choose the Right Pascal Slide Lock
- Find the combined weight of the ram and upper die the lock must hold.
- Pick the SLA size rated above that weight (35, 55 or 88 US tons).
- Confirm the press make and model for fitting, since slide locks are retrofitted to the press.
- Plan the electrical connection to the press controls.
Why Pascal Slide Locks Are Trusted
- Purpose-built: Designed by Pascal specifically for stamping presses and dies.
- Pays for itself: Slide locks cost more than die blocks, but the safety, ergonomic and time savings justify them.
- From a quick die change specialist: Pascal also makes the die clamps, die lifters and rotators PRI supplies.
