Overview
The PAX EGDF is an electrically driven, single-tray oscillating (shaker) conveyor designed as a cost-effective alternative to hinged-belt and magnetic conveyors. It mounts to or below the floor and carries scrap away from below presses, lasers and other machinery. PAX's patented Elliptical Gear Drive moves a steel tray, so there are no belts to replace and no hinges to jam. PRI supplies the EGDF-125 and EGDF-250 with the tray, mounting and options the job calls for.
Key Features
- Patented Elliptical Gear Drive
- Oversized, oil-bathed gears run in a sealed gearbox for low stress and virtually no wear, and low-RPM operation extends bearing life.
- Up to 25 fpm
- The drive operates at about 100 cpm for conveying speeds of up to 25 fpm, depending on the part, tray type and tray cleanliness.
- No hinges to jam
- The base sides wrap around the tray to keep scrap from getting between the tray and the base.
- No belts to replace
- Steel tray construction gives an exceptionally long service life.
- Common base
- The whole assembly mounts to a common base for easy installation. The drive is at the end of the base for easy access, and the tray rides on UHMW wear pads below and on both sides.
- Electric and quiet
- Electrically driven gears use no compressed air, and gear-driven motion keeps operating sound levels under 70 dBA.
Product Line / Models
The EGDF comes in two sizes:
- EGDF-250 – 250 lb tray weight capacity and 500 lb part/scrap capacity. Maximum standard tray width 48". A single unit conveys up to 40' with an 18" wide tray. 3.3" from tray surface to top of side rail. 3/4 HP, 3-phase AC gear motor with a VFD to start and stop. Centered or offset (side-mounted) gearbox.
- EGDF-125 – 125 lb tray weight capacity and 250 lb part/scrap capacity. Maximum standard tray width 16". 3/8 HP gear motor, 120 VAC single phase standard, centered drive. Unit is 9.4" H x 20" W x 15" D and 95 lb, and includes an 18" standard cross bar and floor mount brackets.
Applications & Benefits
- Press scrap removal: Removes scrap from below presses, including EGDF-250 units mounted in the leg openings of a press.
- Lasers and machining centers: Low profile designs fit below most lasers, presses and machining centers.
- Replacing hinged-belt or magnetic conveyors: PAX designed the EGDF as a cost-effective alternative to both.
- Long runs: Multiple EGDF units can be arranged in tandem to convey longer distances.
- Robot cells: Two EGDF-250 conveyors on a common stand are used to separate parts in a robot cell.
How to Choose the Right PAX EGDF Conveyor
- Size the load: the EGDF-125 handles 250 lb of parts or scrap, the EGDF-250 500 lb.
- Set the tray width, from 12" up to 48" on the EGDF-250 or 16" on the EGDF-125.
- Measure the conveying distance: up to 40' on a single EGDF-250 with an 18" tray, or several units in tandem for longer runs.
- Decide how it mounts: on the floor, below the floor, on risers, or in the press leg openings, and whether the gearbox sits centered or on the side.
- Add options: tray motion sensor for die protection, extended side rails, risers and a fluid drain with collection pans for oily scrap.
Why PAX EGDF Conveyors Are Trusted
- Patented drive: PAX's Elliptical Gear Drive is covered by U.S. Patents 7,975,835 and 8,272,502.
- Designed for stampers by stampers: PAX builds pressroom equipment for metal stamping operations, including lube systems, press doors and conveyors for parts and scrap.
- Tested before shipment: Every PAX conveyor is fully tested before shipment and backed by the PAX Products warranty.
