Overview
Saf-T-Block die safety blocks hold the press slide open during die setting, maintenance and repair. The line runs from 5-ton Feather-Weight adjustable blocks for press brakes and small presses up to 150-ton Heavy-Weight and fixed blocks for large stamping presses.
Key Features
- Adjustable and fixed styles
- Adjustable blocks use an ACME-thread screw and nut to fit the gap; fixed blocks are built to your shut height.
- High-strength aluminum body
- Machined aluminum keeps blocks stiff while staying light enough to handle.
- Custom lengths
- Adjustable blocks are built to customer requirements in multiple capacities, lengths and adjustment ranges.
- Screw adjustment instead of wedges
- The adjusting screw and nut assembly is mounted on top of the block at the factory and adjusts by hand.
- Power cut-off option
- Saf-T-Block's electrical power cut-off system interlocks the block with the press so it can't run while a block is in use.
- Holders and handles
- Press-mounted holders keep the block stored at the press, and handles make heavier blocks easier to place.

Applications & Benefits
- Die setting and maintenance: Keeps the slide from closing while people work in the die area.
- OSHA compliance: OSHA 1910.217 requires employers to provide and enforce the use of safety blocks when dies are adjusted or repaired.
- Press brakes and small presses: Feather-Weight and Light-Weight blocks fit where working space is limited.
- Large stamping presses: Heavy-Weight and fixed blocks cover higher static loads.
How to Choose the Right Saf-T-Block Safety Block
- Work out the static load: the weight of the slide, ram components and upper die the block must support.
- Measure the opening at the point where the block goes in, with the press at the top of stroke.
- Choose adjustable if the opening changes between dies, or fixed if it doesn't.
- On larger presses, split the load across more than one block and place two blocks at diagonal corners.
- Decide whether you need a power cut-off, holder or handles.
Why Saf-T-Block Safety Blocks Are Trusted
- Aluminum construction: Aluminum deforms under overload instead of shattering, which is why it is the preferred material for safety blocks.
- A block for every press: Ratings from 5 to 150 tons in adjustable and fixed styles.
- Built to order: Lengths and adjustment ranges are made to your press.
