Sheet fanner products are used by metal formers and fabricators where operators, robots, or automation devices need to lift a single metal sheet at a time form a stack or pallet. The sheet fanner parts the sheet stack so it can be easily handled.
MPI Standard Sheet Separators (SS Series) and pneumatic automated fanner magnets improve productivity and employee safety in sheet handling operations by eliminating “doubles” when handling oily, sticky or pre-finished sheet stock in automated stamping, forming or shearing operations.
SS Sheet Separator
MPI’s magnetic sheet separators provide positive separation of oily thin gauge ferrous sheet metal to eliminate “double sheet” de-stacking. Units are available in a wide variety of styles offering several designs to meet your specific application requirements. Models include permanent Ceramic, Rare Earth, and air operated on/off and electromagnetic on/off designs.

SS Sheet Separator
Application: MPI’s Standard Sheet Separators (SS series) meet the needs of demanding manufacturing environments. They are designed to improve productivity and employee safety in sheet handling operations. These magnets can also provide significant benefits in reducing costs by eliminating “doubles” when handling oily, sticky, or pre-finished sheet stock in an automated stamping, forming or shearing operations.
Construction: Powerful ceramic magnet material is enclosed in an all-welded 100% stainless steel housing to provide durable designs, able to withstand de-magnetizing (actual loss of only 1/2 of 1% over 100 years, under normal operating conditions, can be expected).
Operation: SS series sheet separators utilize the basic laws of magnetic “like poles” repelling characteristics in their use and operation. By inducing “like” magnetic fields into a stack of steel sheets or plates, repelling forces are created from sheet to sheet, forcing them to separate from each other.
Standard features:
- Rugged all-welded construction
- Powerful ceramic 8 permanent magnet material
- 100% stainless steel housing
Optional features:
- Special mounting brackets
- Removable wear strips
- Optional sizes
- Powerful rare earth magnet material
Selection: MPI builds four series of standard sheet separators, each with its own specific advantages. This enables you to design a solution that fits both your application needs and your budget.

Pneumatic Automated Fanner Magnets
Using powerful, rare earth magnetics, these automated fanners are designed specifically for high-volume, fully automated production lines. They increase productivity and efficiency, enabling easier handling of oily, sticky, polished sheets. Their compact and lightweight design allow for easy installation to end of arm tooling.
MPI fanner magnets also improve worker safety by eliminating residual magnetic fields when turned off.
