Overview
MPI Part-Out Conveyors are rugged, low-profile belt conveyors that sit beneath the press or die and carry finished parts or scrap out of the die area of stamping presses, forming machines and other fabrication equipment. The belt-driven design is built for light to moderate material handling, from delicately formed parts to press scrap. Each conveyor is modular and built in custom lengths, widths and configurations to fit into existing press lines, robotic systems or automated cells. PRI supplies MPI Part-Out Conveyors along with the rest of MPI's conveyor line.
Key Features
- Low-profile construction
- Installs under low-clearance presses or in compact work cells without modification.
- Adjustable discharge height and angle
- Places parts or scrap into totes, bins or downstream automation equipment.
- Part and scrap separation
- Optional chutes or diverters sort usable parts from runners, slugs or scrap.
- Runs with the press
- Integrated controls or standalone operation. The conveyor can tie into existing press or automation controls and run in sync with press cycles or continuously.
- Heavy-duty frame and belt
- Built to withstand harsh environments and continuous-duty cycles in metal stamping. Precision belt tracking and a high-efficiency motor reduce noise and vibration.
- Tool-free belt service
- The belt can be removed or tensioned without tools, which simplifies maintenance and cleaning and cuts line downtime.
Product Line / Models
MPI builds each Part-Out Conveyor to the application. Options MPI offers:
- Custom lengths and widths – sized to the press and the part geometry, in straight or inclined configurations that carry material laterally or upward to the discharge point.
- Belt materials – flat or cleated rubber/fabric belts, with anti-static, high-friction, food-grade or high-temperature materials available.
- Discharge chutes, hoppers and diverters – direct material into bins or downstream conveyors, and separate parts from scrap.
- Sensors and stop gates – for counting, indexing or pausing during jams.
- Variable speed drives (VFDs) – fine-tune belt speed for part handling sensitivity.
- Magnetic hold-downs – keep ferrous parts stable during inclined transport.
- Stainless steel construction – for washdown or corrosive environments.
- Casters and floor stands – mobile or fixed mounting. MPI's example drawing shows an inclined conveyor on a caster base with electric drive height adjustment, fork pockets, conveyor-mounted E-stops and a control panel with 110 VAC, 60 Hz input, variable frequency drive, start/stop buttons and disconnect.
Applications & Benefits
- Stamping presses: Installed directly beneath the press or die, the conveyor catches finished parts and scrap as they fall and carries them to a bin, tote or the next process.
- Forming and fabrication equipment: Clears parts and scrap from forming machines and other industrial fabrication equipment.
- Robotic and automated cells: Fits into existing press lines, robotic systems and automated cells, including workstation delivery.
- Aerospace parts manufacturing: MPI shows a Part-Out Conveyor used in an aerospace parts application.
- Cold heading: MPI builds a cold heading part conveyor with a hopper.
How to Choose the Right MPI Part-Out Conveyor
- Match the conveyor to the material. MPI recommends Part-Out Conveyors for finished parts, light-to-medium parts and clean press scrap. For hot slugs, turnings, castings or heavy, sharp or oily scrap, MPI points to its steel hinge belt conveyor (see MPI Hinged Steel Belt Conveyors).
- Check the clearance under the die and the space around the press or work cell.
- Set where material must go and at what height: tote, bin, downstream conveyor or next process.
- Decide whether parts and scrap must be separated with chutes or diverters.
- Choose the belt: flat or cleated, and anti-static, high-friction, food-grade or high-temperature if needed.
- Decide on controls: standalone or tied to the press, with VFD speed control, sensors or stop gates.
Why MPI Part-Out Conveyors Are Trusted
- Built for stamping: MPI designs the Part-Out Conveyor for harsh environments and continuous-duty cycles in metal stamping operations.
- Less downtime: Tool-free belt removal and tensioning simplify maintenance and cleaning, and automated part removal improves operator safety.
- Proven in the plant: MPI shows Part-Out Conveyors installed at stamping presses, in workstation delivery, in aerospace parts manufacturing and on cold heading with a hopper.
