Overview
MPI Turnkey Scrap Conveying Systems are fully integrated systems that automate the collection, transport and discharge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap in stamping, machining and fabrication plants. MPI engineers each system around the plant layout, production rates and scrap type, combining its beltless magnetic, hinged steel belt and shaker conveyors with chutes, hoppers, sensors, controls and optional lift magnets, in-floor or above-floor. Systems range from a single press to multi-machine plants, and MPI designs, builds, controls and supports the installation. PRI supplies MPI turnkey systems and the individual MPI conveyors that go into them.
Key Features
- Engineered to the plant
- Each system is custom-engineered for the process flow, scrap volume and facility layout, so there is no integration guesswork.
- Single press to multi-line plants
- Modular, scalable designs serve individual presses, lasers and machining centers or large systems with many metal forming machines.
- Conveyor matched to the scrap
- Beltless magnetic conveyors for oily or sharp ferrous scrap, hinged steel belt conveyors for mixed or heavy scrap, and shaker conveyors for light or non-ferrous scrap.
- In-floor or above-floor
- Mounting to suit pit or no-pit press configurations. Conveyors collect scrap from under press pits, machining centers or work cells and carry it to central discharge points.
- Automated scrap removal
- Reduces labor, eliminates forklift scrap collection and keeps press pits and floors clean. The system runs in sync with the production line.
- Planning through support
- MPI provides project planning, installation, controls integration and post-install support.
Product Line / Models
Components MPI combines in a turnkey system:
- Beltless magnetic conveyors – for oily or sharp ferrous scrap; scrap is moved by magnetic force. See MPI Beltless Magnetic Conveyors.
- Hinged steel belt conveyors – for mixed or heavy scrap. See MPI Hinged Steel Belt Conveyors.
- Press-mounted and floor-mounted electric shakers – shaker/vibratory conveying for light or non-ferrous scrap. See MPI Electric Shaker Conveyors.
- Part-out conveyors – carry parts and scrap out of the die area. See MPI Part-Out Conveyors.
- Scrap distribution systems – route scrap to central discharge points.
- Lift magnets and electromagnets – assist with bin or bundle loading.
- Control panels and sensors – for automated start/stop, scrap level alerts or press integration.
- Hoppers, bins and chutes – tailored to the facility layout and scrap types, with optional compactors or bale systems.
Applications & Benefits
- Stamping press lines: Collect scrap from under press pits and carry it to central discharge points, with no forklift scrap runs.
- CNC machining centers: Remove scrap from machining centers and work cells.
- Metal fabrication plants: Serve single machines or lines of presses, lasers and machining centers.
- Automotive Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers: MPI shows a heavy-duty turnkey shaker conveyor installed for a Tier 1 automotive supplier.
- Appliance and electronics manufacturers: And any facility generating high volumes of ferrous or non-ferrous scrap.
How to Choose the Right MPI Turnkey Scrap System
- Map every scrap generation point: presses, lasers, machining centers and work cells.
- Identify the scrap at each point. Oily or sharp ferrous scrap suits beltless magnetic conveyors, mixed or heavy scrap suits hinged steel belt, and light or non-ferrous scrap suits shakers.
- Estimate scrap volumes and production rates.
- Decide on in-floor (pit) or above-floor (no-pit) conveyors.
- Choose the discharge: hoppers, bins, compactors or bale systems, with lift magnets for bin or bundle loading.
- Define the controls: automated start/stop, scrap level alerts and press integration.
Why MPI Turnkey Scrap Systems Are Trusted
- One source, start to finish: MPI engineers assess the scrap, then design, build, control and support the installation.
- Built for harsh scrap: Heavy-duty frames and wear-resistant components handle hot, oily or abrasive scrap.
- Safer, cleaner floors: Automated removal minimizes manual lifting and handling, reducing operator injury risk, and keeps press pits and floors clean.
