Overview
The PAX CD (Center Drive) Conveyor is a rugged, bottom-drive belt conveyor that can be configured and customized for a wide variety of part-handling applications. The motor, drive pulley and belt tensioning sit beneath the conveyor, which keeps the top unobstructed, and the conveyor ends are just 2.1" high. PAX rates it for greater capacity than its Low Profile conveyor. PRI supplies PAX CD conveyors built to the length, width, stand and options the job calls for.
Key Features
- Unobstructed top
- The motor, drive pulley and belt tensioning are located beneath the conveyor, keeping the top of the conveyor clear.
- Motor where you need it
- The motor can be located anywhere along the bottom of the conveyor. Its position is specified at order and fixed once installed.
- Low ends
- The conveyor ends are 2.1" high.
- Precision belt tracking
- Standard tracking is adjusted at the belt tensioner below the conveyor, with fine tracking adjustments at all four corners for reversing or precision tuning.
- Reversible
- The reversing option lets the conveyor act as a parts diverter, typically sending parts to different bins.
- Oil-resistant belt
- The standard belt is a smooth, white 2-ply monofilament urethane belt, 1.8 mm thick, joined with stainless steel lacing and pin.
Product Line / Models
PAX CD conveyors are built to order in standard widths and lengths, with a range of stands and mounting options:
- Widths – Nominal 4" to 20" (4", 5", 6", 7", 8", 9", 10", 12", 14", 16", 18" and 20"), with belt widths from 2.6" to 18.6" and tray widths from 3.95" to 19.95".
- Lengths – Standard lengths from 24" to 120"; contact PRI for custom lengths.
- Drives – Fixed-speed or variable-speed (3-phase motor with VFD), reversible drive, and a high-speed arrangement with a larger bearing arrangement. Standard voltage is 115 V, single phase, 60 Hz; 240 and 480 V, 3-phase, 60 Hz are optional.
- Adjustable, pivoting support stands – Adjust conveyor height and angle. Floor-mount legs have a 24" W x 8" D base; the caster version has a 24" x 48" common base and can be centered or offset for cantilevered setups.
- Adjustable center stand – Mounts on both sides of a centrally located motor so both ends of the conveyor cantilever, with room for part bins at each end. Typically used with reversing conveyors.
- Side rails and custom mounting – Side rails in straight, vertical or angled configurations (2" standard height), extruded aluminum side rails with T-slots, clinch nuts on the sides, or custom brackets for mounting to existing structures.
Applications & Benefits
- Part transfer: A bottom-drive conveyor with an unobstructed top for moving parts.
- Part diverting: With the reversing option, the conveyor diverts parts to different bins.
- Two-out dies: Removable, adjustable parts dividers keep parts from different lanes of a 2-out die separated.
- Holding parts in place: Magnetic hold down, with magnets in the wear strip beneath the belt, helps keep moving parts secured.
- Mounting to existing equipment: Extruded aluminum rails, clinch nuts or custom brackets mount the conveyor to existing supports or structures.
How to Choose the Right PAX CD Conveyor
- Pick the belt width, from nominal 4" to 20" (2.6" to 18.6" belt).
- Set the length, 24" to 120" standard, and where the motor should sit along the bottom.
- Choose fixed or variable speed, reversing, or the high-speed arrangement, and the supply voltage.
- Choose the support: pivoting legs, a caster stand, a center stand for cantilevering both ends, or custom mounting to existing structures.
- Add side rails, side wipers, a self-adjusting belt wiper, magnetic hold down or parts dividers as needed.
Why PAX CD Conveyors Are Trusted
- Designed for stampers by stampers: The CD conveyor is part of PAX's 550C belt conveyor line for metal stamping operations.
- Rugged and customizable: Built-to-order length and a wide range of standard and custom options.
- More capacity: PAX rates the CD conveyor for greater capacity than its Low Profile conveyor.
