Overview
The Protech Systems Eagle Eye light curtain and control interface is custom configured for press brakes: friction clutch treadle-operated, air clutch and hydraulic machines. Its high-density beams are designed for guarding close to the hazard. Programmable beam blankout lets box and tray parts pass through the sensing field without stopping the machine.
Key Features
- High-density beam array
- Staggered, high-density infrared beams are designed for guarding close to the point of operation.
- Programmable beam blankout
- Lets the part profile interrupt the sensing field for box, tray and similar forming work.
- Tool memory
- Blankout comes standard with tool memory that remembers bend steps and part profiles in step with CNC backgauges.
- Stroke stop and muting
- Control interfaces stop the stroke for close hand-held work and mute the curtain during the non-hazardous part of the cycle.
- Brake monitoring
- Top stop overrun brake monitoring and control-reliable electronics are standard.
- Rugged enclosure
- Oil-tight extruded 6063-T5 aluminum housing with a 0.187 in. minimum wall and a brushed stainless steel face.
- No calibration
- The light curtain is maintenance-free, needs no adjustment, and ships with heavy-duty quick-mount brackets.
Product Line / Models
Eagle Eye systems are configured from these parts:
- Eagle Eye light curtain – 30 ft standard range in a clean environment. Response time is 5 ms plus 0.6 ms per beam.
- Control interface – Stroke stop, muting, and top stop overrun brake monitoring for the press brake.
- Programmable blankout with tool memory – Stores bend steps and part profiles for CNC backgauge work.
- Motor controls and electronic brake monitoring – Available as part of the system.
- Mounting options – Shock mounts, machine brackets, floor stands and mirrors.
Applications & Benefits
- Box and tray forming: Blankout lets flanges and part profiles break the field without stopping the press brake.
- Close hand-held work: Stroke stop control protects the operator while holding small parts near the die.
- CNC backgauge bending: Tool memory keeps blanked beams in step with each bend.
- Mechanical and hydraulic press brakes: Configured for treadle-operated friction clutch, air clutch and hydraulic machines.
How to Choose the Right Protech Eagle Eye System
- Identify the press brake type: friction clutch treadle, air clutch or hydraulic.
- Look at your parts. If flanges or profiles must pass through the field, plan on programmable blankout.
- If you run multi-step bends on a CNC backgauge, use tool memory to recall blankout by bend step.
- Decide whether you also need motor controls or electronic brake monitoring.
- Check mounting and vibration. Shock mounts, brackets and floor stands are available.
Why Protech Eagle Eye Guarding Is Trusted
- Built for close guarding: High-density beams are designed for guarding close to the hazard.
- Control reliable: Brake monitoring and control-reliable electronics come standard on the control interface.
- Made in USA: Protech Systems builds its machine safeguarding products in Riverside, California.
