Overview
Wintriss ProPAC is an in-die measurement and process monitoring module for the SmartPAC PRO press automation control. It reads analog sensors in the die, so parts are measured on the fly. Good parts are kept, bad ones are diverted, and process conditions such as nitrogen pressure and bearing temperature are watched throughout the run.
Key Features
- Up to 16 analog sensors
- Each ProPAC module monitors up to 16 analog sensors, and two modules give a SmartPAC PRO as many as 32 additional inputs.
- Manual and automatic limits
- Manual limits suit in-die dimensions. Automatic limits catch process changes, such as die shut height, that shift from run to run.
- Limits stored by tool
- Control limits are saved with each tool number, so setup carries over from job to job.
- Shift registers and diversion
- ProPAC tracks a bad part through a progressive or transfer die and diverts it at a later station.
- Stop or alarm
- Stops the press or sets off an alarm if too many bad parts are made.
- Live waveform display
- Shows any sensor's output waveform while the press runs, with zoom and graphical adjustment of timing and limits.
- Die plug connection
- Sensors connect through a die-mounted plug and HD19 cable for quick setup at die change.
Product Line / Models
Proportional-output sensors used with ProPAC:
- LVDT gage head – A housing and movable core give an output proportional to how far the core is pushed in.
- Analog proximity sensor – Also called an inductive gaging sensor. Output is proportional to the sensor-to-target distance, with no contact.
- Pneumatic LVDT – LVDT gaging option for in-die measurement.
- Pressure sensor – Monitors nitrogen and lube pressure.
- Current sensor – Monitors main motor load current.
- Temperature sensor – Monitors press bearing temperature. Thermocouples need signal conditioning and a calibration run.
Applications & Benefits
- In-die quality control: Measure form angle and height, draw depth, material thickness and feed length on every hit.
- Slug detection: Detect pulled slugs under the stripper plate.
- Process monitoring: Watch nitrogen and lube pressure, bearing temperature, main motor current and die shut height.
- Scrap diversion: Measure at one station and divert bad parts at another.
How to Choose the Right ProPAC Setup
- Confirm your press control. ProPAC is a module for the Wintriss SmartPAC PRO.
- List the parameters to measure and count the sensors: up to 16 per module, or 32 with two modules.
- Match each parameter to a sensor type: gage head, analog prox, pressure, current or temperature.
- Decide how bad parts are handled: divert, stop the press, or alarm.
- Plan die wiring so each die carries its own sensor plug for quick changeover.
Why Wintriss ProPAC Is Trusted
- Built into SmartPAC PRO: Measurements and limits sit alongside the rest of the press automation and are stored by tool.
- Operator friendly: ProPAC walks through setup step by step, names each input by function and shows readings in true units.
- Catches bad parts in the die: Shift registers follow a bad part through the die so it can be diverted.
